Hire QA engineers in Ukraine

Manual QA specialists and test automation engineers employed by BigTree108 on Ukrainian contracts and embedded full time in your team. They work to your definition of done and your release decision, while the contracts, payroll, invoicing and leave stay with us.

Two different jobs, and most products need both

  • Manual QA specialists

Test design, exploratory testing and release verification. The defects a script never finds, because finding them needs somebody thinking like a user rather than replaying a path.

  • Test automation engineers

Playwright suites across browsers, wired into your pipeline so they run on every change. They automate the paths that have stabilised, not the ones still being redesigned weekly.

If you are not sure which you need, describe how releases currently go wrong and we will tell you, including when the honest answer is neither and the problem is somewhere else.

How we think about testing

These are the written rules every change in our own repositories is reviewed against, and they are what a QA engineer from here brings with them.

  • Tests gate the release

A suite that runs only when somebody remembers is a document. Ours run in continuous integration, so a failing test blocks the release rather than being noticed afterwards.

  • A bug fix tests its whole class

Our written rule is that a fix carries a test for the class of bug, not the single reported instance, pushed to the broadest layer that can catch it. That is what stops the same defect returning.

  • Coverage is measured

It is reportable on demand and may not regress. A number nobody looks at is not a quality signal, so this one has a gate attached.

  • Starting from no tests at all

The common case. We look first at what actually breaks in production and cover those paths, rather than starting at the top of the feature list and running out of time.

  • Your framework, not ours

Playwright is what we use and hire for, but we will pick up a suite written in something else. An engineer whose first move is to replace your tooling is not being useful.

  • A practice behind the person

Review, cover during leave and a second opinion on a hard defect come from BigTree108 rather than from your budget.

The QA and test automation service page covers the same ground from the delivery side, for testing you would hand over rather than staff.

We test our own product this way

The platform this company runs on, for hiring, onboarding, contracts, time tracking, leave and invoicing, ships with unit tests, integration tests against a real database rather than a mock, and browser suites in Playwright. The rules above are not advice we give clients; they are the conditions under which our own changes are allowed to merge. Read the case study.

What hiring through us includes

You interview the person the way you would interview your own hire and say no as freely; we propose one or two people with their profiles rather than a stack of CVs. Nineteen people on the team are active technical interviewers, so the assessment on our side is done by somebody who does the work. The Ukrainian contract, tax registration, payroll, invoicing, time tracking and leave stay with us, so you sign one agreement with BIG TREE 108 LLC and receive one invoice a month, with the hours behind it visible all month rather than arriving at the end of it.

The dedicated team page explains the model in full, and the software development company in Ukraine page covers the legal identity behind it.

Questions about hiring QA engineers from Ukraine

Do you staff manual QA, automation, or both?

Both, and they are different jobs. Manual QA specialists design test cases, explore the product the way a user would and find the defects a script never will. Automation engineers turn the stable parts of that into suites that run on every change. Most products need both, and we will say which one your situation actually calls for.

Which automation tools do your QA engineers use?

Playwright is what we use ourselves and what we hire for, across browsers and against real pipelines. We are comfortable picking up a suite already written in something else rather than insisting on a rewrite; a QA engineer whose first move is to replace your framework is not being useful.

Where do the tests run?

In your continuous integration, on every change, so that a failing test blocks the release rather than being noticed afterwards. A suite that only runs when somebody remembers to run it is a document, not a test suite, and we will say so.

Can a QA engineer work on a product with no tests at all?

Yes, and that is a common starting point. The sequence is a read-only look at what breaks most often in production, then coverage of those paths first, rather than starting at the top of the feature list. Bug fixes get a test written against the whole class of bug rather than the single reported instance.

Will QA report to us or to you?

To you, day to day: your priorities, your definition of done, your release decision. Behind that, the engineer has a practice at BigTree108 for review, cover during leave and a second opinion on a hard defect, which comes from us rather than from your budget.

How do you know your QA people are any good?

Nineteen people on the team are active technical interviewers, and a QA candidate is assessed by somebody who does the work rather than by a recruiter with a checklist. Beyond that, you interview them yourself, with your own questions, and say no as freely as you would to a direct hire.
