MongoDB development and administration services
MongoDB development and administration: document schema design, Node.js, Java, Python and .NET applications on MongoDB, query and index tuning, MongoDB Atlas set-up and operations, sharding and replication, MongoDB Search and Vector Search, and migrations to and from MongoDB, with dedicated MongoDB developers for your team or a MongoDB project delivered end to end.
What we build with MongoDB
Document schema design
Collections modelled around the queries the application runs, with embedding or references chosen per relationship, patterns such as bucket, computed and extended reference where they pay off, and JSON Schema validation so writes keep the agreed shape.
Applications on MongoDB
Services in Node.js with Mongoose, Java with Spring Data MongoDB, Python with PyMongo, .NET with the C# driver or the EF Core provider, and Go, using aggregation pipelines, multi-document transactions and change streams where the business rules need them.
MongoDB query and index tuning
Slow operations found with the database profiler, explain plans and the Atlas Performance Advisor, then fixed with compound indexes ordered for equality, sort and range, rewritten aggregation stages or query settings, with timings measured before and after.
MongoDB Atlas set-up and operations
Atlas clusters on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud defined with the Atlas Terraform provider, reached over private endpoints, with continuous cloud backup and point-in-time restore, alerts on what users would notice, and tiers sized to the real workload.
Sharding and replica sets
Shard keys chosen from the real query pattern, collections resharded when the first key stops fitting, zone sharding to keep each region’s data in its region, and replica sets spread across availability zones with read and write concerns set per operation.
Self-managed MongoDB
Community and Enterprise Advanced deployments on virtual machines or on Kubernetes through MongoDB’s operator, run with Ops Manager, backed up and restored on a schedule, and upgraded release by release to MongoDB 9.0.
MongoDB Search and Vector Search
Full-text search with relevance, autocomplete and facets, and vector search for retrieval-augmented generation and recommendations, inside the same database through MongoDB Search and MongoDB Vector Search, with embeddings from Voyage AI models or your own pipeline.
Migrations to and from MongoDB
Relational schemas moved to MongoDB with Relational Migrator, self-managed clusters moved to Atlas with mongosync, Amazon DocumentDB and Azure DocumentDB moved to or from Atlas, and collections moved to PostgreSQL when the data has become relational, each run rehearsed and the counts reconciled.
MongoDB security and encryption
SCRAM, X.509 or single sign-on through workforce identity federation, roles scoped to each service, auditing, encryption at rest under your own keys, and Client-Side Field Level Encryption or Queryable Encryption for fields the server should never see in plain text.
Hire MongoDB developers
Dedicated MongoDB developers
MongoDB developers who join your team full time, work in your repositories, tracker and meetings, and report to your lead. You interview them; we carry the Ukrainian contract, payroll, invoicing and leave.
MongoDB project delivery
A team that takes the MongoDB project from scope to release: estimate, build, tests and deployment, with a technical lead on our side who owns the plan and the quality.
MongoDB support and take-overs
An existing MongoDB system taken over from another team or kept running: a read-only review and a written list of risks first, then fixes and new features in order of impact.
The dedicated team page explains how specialists join your team, and the outsourcing page covers project delivery, take-overs and how we charge.

How we work on MongoDB
A flexible schema still needs a design. Collections, indexes and validation rules are written down and versioned with the code, index changes go through the pipeline like migrations, and tests run against a real MongoDB in a container, with production-sized sample data where performance matters.
On an existing deployment we start with read-only access to the version, topology, shard keys, slowest operations, backups and the list of who can connect, and write up the risks in order of impact. Changes to production are rehearsed on a restored copy first.
Other databases we work on
PostgreSQL development
PostgreSQL development, administration and consulting: schema design, PL/pgSQL, tuning, replication, upgrades to PostgreSQL 18 and Oracle migrations, with dedicated PostgreSQL developers and DBAs or project delivery.
SQL Server development
SQL Server and Azure SQL development and administration: T-SQL, performance tuning, SSIS, Always On, upgrades to SQL Server 2025 and Azure migrations, with dedicated SQL Server developers and DBAs or project delivery.
Oracle development
Oracle Database and PL/SQL development and administration: SQL tuning, APEX, RAC and Data Guard, 26ai upgrades, Exadata and migrations to and from Oracle, with dedicated Oracle developers and DBAs or project delivery.
Questions about MongoDB development
Which industries do your MongoDB developers work in?
E-commerce and retail, for catalogues, carts and product search; enterprise SaaS, for multi-tenant products whose data varies by customer; fintech, for customer profiles, events and transaction history; healthcare, for patient-facing apps and device data; media and consumer apps, for content, feeds and user profiles; and AI and data products, for documents and vector search in one place.
MongoDB Atlas or self-managed?
Atlas when you want backups, upgrades, scaling and search run as a service on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. Self-managed Community or Enterprise Advanced when data must stay on your own servers or a licence is already in place. The schema, indexes and code are the same on both, and a deployment can move from one to the other with mongosync.
Can you upgrade an old MongoDB version?
Yes, one major release at a time, as MongoDB requires, with the feature compatibility version raised only after each step has run cleanly. MongoDB 6.0 is already past end of life and 7.0 follows in August 2027, so most estates move to 8.0 or 9.0. Drivers are upgraded first and the application is tested against the target version before production.
How quickly can MongoDB developers start?
When the right MongoDB developer is available, the start is gated only by your interview and the NDA and IP assignment. Otherwise we run a search, which typically produces candidate profiles within two to three weeks, and nobody starts until you have said yes.
How do we hire MongoDB developers through BigTree108?
Tell us the work, the seniority and the hours you need. We propose one or two people with their profiles, you interview them the way you would interview your own hire, and you sign one agreement with BIG TREE 108 LLC and receive one invoice a month.
Who owns the work they produce?
You do. Every specialist has a signed contract with BigTree108 that assigns all work product to the company, and our agreement with you assigns it onward. Code, designs and documents are delivered into your own repositories and tools, not kept where only we can change them.
Building on MongoDB?
Tell us the version, whether it runs on Atlas or your own servers, and what has to change. You get an answer within one business day: a plan, candidate profiles, or a scope for a review of your cluster.
