Embedded software development services
Embedded software development services for embedded Linux, Android and RTOS devices: board support packages and drivers, device applications, automotive software, network equipment, audio and video devices, touchscreen interfaces and secure updates for consumer electronics, industrial, automotive, telecom, energy and medical products, with dedicated embedded software engineers for your team or projects delivered end to end.
Embedded software we develop
Embedded Linux platforms
Custom distributions built with the Yocto Project or Buildroot for NXP i.MX, Texas Instruments Sitara, Qualcomm, Rockchip, NVIDIA Jetson and Raspberry Pi Compute Module boards, reproducible from a clean checkout in your pipeline and kept on a maintained long-term-support release.
Board support packages and drivers
Device trees, U-Boot configuration and Linux kernel drivers for your sensors, displays, cameras and radios, kept close to the mainline kernel so a kernel update is a rebase rather than a rewrite, and the whole platform ported to a new processor when a part goes end of life.
Device applications and middleware
The services that make the product do its job, in C, C++, Rust or Python on Linux, or on Zephyr, FreeRTOS, QNX or VxWorks, with messaging, logging and configuration designed before the first feature.
Automotive embedded software
Adaptive AUTOSAR applications, infotainment and digital cockpit software on Android Automotive OS, QNX or Automotive Grade Linux, and telematics units, developed to ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434 and Automotive SPICE where your programme calls for them.
Network equipment software
Firmware for routers, gateways, firewalls and access points on OpenWrt, prplOS or RDK-B, packet processing with DPDK and eBPF, and Linux network drivers, with throughput and latency measured on the target rather than assumed.
Audio, video and camera software
Camera pipelines on V4L2 and libcamera, hardware encoding and streaming with GStreamer over RTSP, WebRTC or ONVIF, and audio on ALSA and PipeWire, for IP cameras, video doorbells, conferencing equipment, speakers and set-top boxes.
Android platform development
AOSP builds, hardware abstraction layers and system services for devices that run Android, such as payment terminals, kiosks, rugged handhelds, TV boxes and in-vehicle systems, with the build and its signing keys under your control.
Touchscreen and display interfaces
Qt 6 and QML on embedded Linux, and LVGL, Slint or TouchGFX on microcontroller displays, designed in Figma and measured for start-up time and frame rate on the real panel.
Device security and over-the-air updates
Secure boot from the boot ROM to the application, Arm TrustZone with OP-TEE for keys and secrets, signed A/B images through RAUC, SWUpdate or Mender with automatic rollback when a new image fails its health check, and signing keys in a vault rather than on a laptop.
Hire embedded software engineers
Dedicated embedded software engineers
Embedded software engineers who join your team full time, work in your tools and process, and report to your lead. You interview them; we carry the Ukrainian contract, payroll, invoicing and leave.
Embedded software development projects
A defined piece of embedded software development with a scope, a fixed plan and a named lead on our side who owns the result and reports progress in your channels.
Ongoing embedded software development
Embedded software development as a continuing service: the same people every month, a backlog you prioritise, and hours you can see in our portal and on the invoice.
The dedicated team page explains how specialists join your team, and the outsourcing page covers project delivery, take-overs and how we charge.

How we work on embedded software
The build is reproducible from a clean checkout inside a container, so the image your pipeline produces is the image that ships. Compiler warnings are errors, static analysis runs on every change, unit tests run on the build machine and on emulated hardware in QEMU or Renode, and the same suite runs on real boards before a release. Kernels and libraries stay on maintained releases, and every build produces a software bill of materials, so a security advisory can be matched to the images it affects.
Hardware reaches the engineer in one of two ways: development kits and prototype boards are sent to them, or they work on a rack in your lab through remote power switching, a debug probe and a serial console over your VPN. Either way the build runs in your pipeline and the code lives in your repositories.

Questions about embedded software development
Embedded Linux or a real-time operating system?
Embedded Linux when the device needs a rich interface, networking, a file system or software written for servers, and has a processor with a memory management unit and tens of megabytes of RAM or more. Zephyr or FreeRTOS on a microcontroller when the device runs on a battery, must respond within microseconds or has to cost a few euros to build. Many products use both, Linux on the application processor and an RTOS on a microcontroller beside it, and we propose the split before the hardware is fixed.
Which industries do your embedded software engineers work in?
Consumer electronics and smart home, in cameras, speakers, TVs and appliances; industrial automation and energy, in controllers, operator panels, inverters and EV chargers; automotive, in infotainment, digital cockpits and telematics units; telecom and networking, in routers, gateways, firewalls and access points; security systems, in alarm panels, access control and video recorders; and medical devices, in patient monitors and diagnostic equipment.
Can you take over our existing embedded codebase?
Yes. A take-over starts with a read-only review: whether the image builds from a clean checkout, which kernel and libraries it is pinned to, how updates are signed and delivered, and which known vulnerabilities affect what is already in the field, written up as a list of risks in order of impact.
Do you work on medical, automotive and other regulated products?
Yes. For medical devices, vehicles and industrial safety functions we work inside your quality management system and safety process: your procedures, design controls, risk file and safety case, with the traceability that IEC 62304 and ISO 14971, ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE, or IEC 61508 ask for kept as the work happens rather than reconstructed before an audit. Certification and the regulatory file stay with you as the manufacturer.
How quickly can embedded software engineers start?
When the right embedded software engineer is available, the start is gated only by your interview and the NDA and IP assignment. Otherwise we run a search, which typically produces candidate profiles within two to three weeks, and nobody starts until you have said yes.
How do we hire embedded software engineers through BigTree108?
Tell us the work, the seniority and the hours you need. We propose one or two people with their profiles, you interview them the way you would interview your own hire, and you sign one agreement with BIG TREE 108 LLC and receive one invoice a month.
Who owns the work they produce?
You do. Every specialist has a signed contract with BigTree108 that assigns all work product to the company, and our agreement with you assigns it onward. Code, designs and documents are delivered into your own repositories and tools, not kept where only we can change them.
Building an embedded device?
Tell us the processor, the operating system and what the device has to do. You get an answer within one business day: a plan for the software, candidate profiles, or a review of the existing code.
