Embedded and hardware testing services

Embedded and hardware testing services for devices and the apps around them: functional device testing, hardware-in-the-loop rigs, firmware test automation, connectivity and interoperability tests, automotive ECU testing, device security testing, update and power-loss testing and end-of-line production tests, with dedicated embedded QA engineers for your team or projects delivered end to end.

Device testing we do

  • Functional testing of devices and apps

Test cases written from your requirements and run by hand on real units, exploratory sessions on first-time setup and everyday use, and the companion app and web portal checked across real phones and browsers, with every bug filed with its serial log and a video.

  • Firmware test automation

Host-side unit tests, Renode simulations and on-target tests wired into the pipeline, with results and serial logs attached to the build that produced them.

  • Hardware-in-the-loop rigs

Test benches where pytest or Robot Framework drives the device under test, programmable power supplies, relays and instruments over SCPI and PyVISA, with labgrid managing the boards, so every firmware build runs on real hardware before a person sees it.

  • Connectivity and interoperability testing

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread and Matter devices tested against the phones, routers and hubs your customers own, with sniffer traces attached to each failure, pre-testing for Bluetooth SIG qualification and Matter certification, and throughput tests with iPerf3 or TRex for network equipment.

  • Automotive ECU testing

Test benches in Vector CANoe and vTESTstudio or on dSPACE and NI hardware-in-the-loop systems, CAN, LIN and automotive Ethernet traffic checked against the communication matrix, and UDS diagnostics, with reports traced to requirements for ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE.

  • Update and power-loss testing

Repeated update cycles with power cut at random moments, interrupted downloads and deliberately corrupted images, to prove the device always boots into a working version.

  • Power, endurance and environment

Battery life measured with a power profiler in every operating mode, soak tests that run for days, and temperature runs in a climatic chamber at your lab or a test house.

  • Device security testing

Firmware images examined for embedded keys, default passwords and outdated libraries, protocol parsers fuzzed with libFuzzer or AFL++, debug ports such as JTAG, SWD and UART checked to be locked, and evidence gathered for ETSI EN 303 645 and EN 18031.

  • End-of-line production tests

Factory test stations that flash, calibrate and check each unit, record its serial number and results in a database, and show the line operator a plain pass or fail.

Hire embedded QA engineers

  • Dedicated embedded QA engineers

Embedded QA engineers who join your team full time, work in your tools and process, and report to your lead. You interview them; we carry the Ukrainian contract, payroll, invoicing and leave.

  • Device testing projects

A defined piece of device testing with a scope, a fixed plan and a named lead on our side who owns the result and reports progress in your channels.

  • Ongoing device testing

Device testing as a continuing service: the same people every month, a backlog you prioritise, and hours you can see in our portal and on the invoice.

The dedicated team page explains how specialists join your team, and the outsourcing page covers project delivery, take-overs and how we charge.

Who works on your device testing

  • Embedded QA engineers

Test plans, rigs and on-target automation

  • Automotive test engineers

CANoe, HIL benches and ISO 26262 test evidence

  • QA engineers

Manual testing and Playwright automation for apps and portals

  • Python engineers

Test harnesses, instrument control and result storage

  • Hardware engineers

    Fixtures, adapters and instrument wiring

How we test devices

Tests are written from the requirements and the risk analysis rather than from the code, and each one traces back to the requirement it checks, which is the evidence a medical, industrial or automotive quality process asks for. Automated suites run on every build, and manual and exploratory testing goes where automation cannot see, such as first-time setup and how the device behaves in a customer’s hands.

A failing test blocks the release, as it does in our web work: results are attached to the build, a flaky test is fixed or removed rather than retried until it passes, and a bug found on a device gets a regression test before it is closed.

Questions about embedded and hardware testing

Where do the test rigs live?

Where the hardware is most useful: in your lab, operated by our engineers over your VPN, or with the engineer when devices and fixtures can be sent to them. The rig design, wiring diagrams and scripts live in your repository either way, so the rig can be rebuilt at your factory or your test house.

Do you run certification tests?

Certification testing for CE, UKCA, FCC or a medical standard is done by an accredited laboratory. We get the device ready for it: pre-compliance runs of the tests your standard names, the functional and regression evidence your technical file needs, and fixes before the formal test, so the official run confirms rather than discovers.

Which industries do your embedded QA engineers work in?

Consumer electronics and smart home, in devices tested with the apps and hubs they pair with; automotive, in ECU, infotainment and diagnostics testing; industrial and energy equipment, in controllers, meters and chargers; medical devices, in the verification evidence IEC 62304 and the technical file ask for; telecom and networking, in routers and gateways tested for throughput and stability; and security systems, in alarm, access control and camera products.

How quickly can embedded QA engineers start?

When the right embedded QA engineer is available, the start is gated only by your interview and the NDA and IP assignment. Otherwise we run a search, which typically produces candidate profiles within two to three weeks, and nobody starts until you have said yes.

How do we hire embedded QA engineers through BigTree108?

Tell us the work, the seniority and the hours you need. We propose one or two people with their profiles, you interview them the way you would interview your own hire, and you sign one agreement with BIG TREE 108 LLC and receive one invoice a month.

Who owns the work they produce?

You do. Every specialist has a signed contract with BigTree108 that assigns all work product to the company, and our agreement with you assigns it onward. Code, designs and documents are delivered into your own repositories and tools, not kept where only we can change them.

Need your device tested?

Tell us what the device does, how it is updated and how many you build. You get an answer within one business day: a test plan, candidate profiles, or a design for the test rig.
