Partnerships with startup studios, accelerators and funds

For studios, accelerators and investors whose portfolio companies need engineering: a technical partner who builds MVPs, reviews code before an investment and stays with a company as it grows, on terms agreed with each one.

How it works

  1. One agreement with you

A framework that sets the rates, the confidentiality and the way portfolio companies are introduced, so each one does not start from a blank contract.

  2. An introduction to a founder

You introduce a company; we answer the founder within one business day with what we would build first and what it would cost.

  3. Delivery with the founder

The founder owns the product decisions and the repositories; we report to them, and to you only as far as they agree.

  4. A team that can be handed over

When the company hires its own engineers, the code, the documentation and the pipeline are ready for them, and our people can stay or hand over.

What we do for a portfolio

  • MVP builds

The first version of a product, scoped to what it must prove and built on foundations the next version can keep.

  • Technical due diligence

A read-only review of a company’s code, infrastructure and security before you invest, with the risks written down in plain language.

  • A fractional engineering team

A technical lead and the engineers a young company needs for a few months, before it can hire its own.

The commercial arrangement

Rates are agreed in the framework and apply to every portfolio company that wants them. Any other arrangement, such as a deferred part of the fee, is discussed with each company separately and written down before work starts.

Every company owns its code and its accounts from the first day, whatever happens to the partnership.

Questions studios and investors ask

Do portfolio companies have to use you?

No. The framework only means a founder who wants to work with us starts from agreed terms rather than a negotiation.

Can you review a company before we invest?

Yes. With the founder’s consent we review the code, the infrastructure and the security in read-only mode and give you a written report, usually before the term sheet is signed.

Running a studio, an accelerator or a fund?
